Can anyone help? I have created a default color palette, using the company’s standard color scheme (for branding purposes). I have noted that when creating a chart, the background color defaults to Column 8, Row 4 of the color palette. Is there a reason why this happens? Can I manipulate which color to use on palette for the chart background?

    Thanks
    Jack

Because it’s programmed that way grin
Excel uses specific colors from the palette for specific colors. Chart fill and line colors are indicated explicitly, this one is implicit.

You can select another background color and set the chart as default, but that is a user-level setting, stored in a file named xlusrgal.xls in your profile.

You could create a macro that sets the formatting preferences you like, and make it available through an add-in.

You can use BBCodes to format your content.
