    Hello All,

I have an exported DBF file that I open in Excel.
The strange thing is that all numeric data with no decimals are left aligned.
When using the Autofilter (> 20 e.g.) the filter will give no result, but…
When selecting a cell, press F2, hit Enter, the alignment is right and the cell is filtered by the autofilter.

What is happening here? and how can I align all my data (30 columns by 16000 rows) easy?

    Thanks for the response…

      Hello Patrick,

This is a known problem. It has been discussed several times on this forum, for instance here. You will find tips there.

      The simplest is:

      • Enter the number 1 in an empty cell.
      • Select and copy this cell.
      • Select the cells that have left-aligned numbers.
      • From the Edit menu, select Paste special… and then Multiply. Click OK.
      • Delete the cell with the 1.
[/list]There are also more extended solutions involving VBA.

        Thanks hans,

I searched the database, but problably not with the correct words.
        I’m happy… have a nice weekend

Patrick – the “giveaway” is the alignment. When something shows up as left-aligned, it almost always means that Excel (for whatever reason) has decided that what is in the cell is “text” – even though it may be entirely digits. What the solution provided by HansV did was “convert” the cell contents into numbers. HTH
