Is there any way to change the default animation for bullet points? If you just want the preset animation, you can choose the one you want, but if you want to do something a bit more complicated, animating some things and not others, you find that the default is ‘fly from left’. Personally, I prefer ‘Appear’ and when you have several elements on a slide to customise, changing each one is a chore. (Using Outlook 2000 at home, and 97 at work.)

If you follow this thread you should find some useful information.

Thanks. I like the hint about animating the master slide, though it seems there is no direct way of doing exactly what I want to do – i.e. set the default animation to something other than fly from left.

Catherine mentioned this a while back. I think it’s buried in the thread she mentioned, but at the risk of repeating…

Open a blank presentation and make any and all changes to the Master you want to (Like your animation changes). Save As “Blank Presentation.POT”. At the bottom of the save as menu is the save as file type pull-down. The next time PP opens a blank presentation it will open that one with your “default” changes. (I used it to turn grid off- I hate that!)
