Default Browser (IE5 on WIN XP)

I’m a rookie with this, so please go easy on me.
I just bought a Dell. One of the “free” offerings was 6 months of msn. Sure, why not.
When I started the computer for the first time, I went through the wizard steps of setting up
“msn explorer” (Bad move). I was under the impression that my Internet service would be supplied
by msn, and that I’d be able to ‘Click’ on IE Explorer, have it open up, have me sign in, and life would
be great. Well, although life is still great , msn explorer won’t let me open IE on it’s own. I must first
initialize and sign in with msn explorer, then minimize it, then open IE.
It ‘s not such a big deal, but I really prefer IE Browser.
Is there a way to open IE directly without going through msn explorer?

I’ll ask my Outlook email question next time!!

Are you using any other ISP besides MSN?

Yes it is. I got the free 6 months when I bought my computer. I’m just a creature of habit, and
have always used IE browser at work and at home. I just prefer it over the msn browser.
What I do now, is dial in to msn, and minimize it, then open IE.
Same deal goes for the email. I have msn email, which means I really can’t use Outlook the way I used it
with my previous ISP.

I’m not sure if this will work, but in IE, try going to Tools / Internet Options / Connections tab and highlight the appropriate connection in the window and then mark the Dial whenever a network connection is not present and click OK.
