We have 12 users, all on a network. Each person has been able to change their default file location so that his/her files are saved to a specific directory. Except one person. She change it from the default C:mydocuments folder to one she created called c:new files. This worked fine, till she exited Excel and returned. Then, the default returned to c:mydocuments. Everyone else in the group was able to change the default successfully. I watched her change it, and I didn’t see her doing anything wrong. Is there some deeper option that won’t allow this change? Where else can I look besides the Tools Options?

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody LoungerAugust 14, 2001 at 6:52 pm #537380You’ll want to make sure there are no files in the user’s XLSTART directory, and/or that there is nothing in the Alternate Startup directory under Tools-Options, General tab. If you’ve done that, and relaunched Excel, and the problem remains, try this:
Hit Start-Run and type:
excel.exe /regserver
This should reregister Excel into the Windows registry, just in case one of the settings is corrupt.
