All of a sudden when I attempt to access the net I get the following annoying message, is there some way I can stop this from appearing? Oops; the second screen shot appears if I click the text in blue. Thanks Dave.

AskWoody LoungerAugust 27, 2009 at 6:31 pm #1175277Did you install a new toolbar in Firefox?
I found several recommendations to do the following:
– Quit Firefox.
– Delete the folder C:Program FilesFirefoxextensionssearch@searchsettings.comI don’t know how effective that would be.

I don’t know how old those references were, but on my system the Fx folder in Program Files is: C:Program FilesMozilla Firefoxextensions
And there’s no such file, but that may be because I’ve never messed with or altered search settings.

Hello again…… just had a look at the list of plug ins for Firefox and noticed there is one I must have accepted quite recently which has the definition “Search settings” in the title so I have disabled it to see if the annoying message still appears when I log on to the net. Seeing I must rise at 04.30 hours in the morning en-route for Austria my surfing tonight will soon end but if
an answer can be forthcoming withing the next hour or so I will catch it but if not – as I mentioned in my last post- I will not be able to respond before 6th Sep. Cheers Dave. -

AskWoody LoungerAugust 28, 2009 at 3:59 pm #1175384It could have come with some other software – unfortunately, many providers of “free” software nowadays include other software in their downloads, and you have to take action to avoid that other software from being installed automatically. I found one reference that the Search Settings Plugin comes with PDFCreator.
