    Anyone seen this?

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-security/defaultuser0-created-on-clean-install-of/e2333e94-ef5f-4932-8754-fd4ce27ae33b

I clean install AU and it always has this user defaultuser0. Always curious, I would like to know why Windows now have a defaultuser0 and what it does if anybody has anything technical about it.

After removing all Metro crapps with Powershell, I noticed that BioEnrollment and Windows.CloudExperienceHost are still tied to this account and installed, so not removed, nor staged.

Shouldn’t this bug be fixed by M$ long ago ?

W10 is still in beta stage :). No need to worry about such small issues ;).

Well on the test workstation with the ISO for AU, it still did it on a clean install and I didn’t experience any issue during the installation.

This is no bug and that system account should be left alone, especially for those not having its functionality clear. Otherwise, you may end up reinstalling in Repair mode or having unexpected behaviour for which apparently there is no explanation and as such using Windows with degraded experience.

I would tend to think that way, that is why I asked if anybody has any technical information that says it is by design now. Maybe Microsoft just don’t want to talk about why they used an account for some things but they risk having people delete it. The first time I saw it was on a brand new XPS13 laptop last week and I thought maybe it was installed by some crapware that comes with the laptop, but apparently no.

I think that this sort of unclear issues should be left alone, as if they are proven to be bugs affecting a certain number of people, will be addressed at some stage. However, there are good chances that there is hidden functionality for that user account related to the operating system.
A bit like hiding updates which often can cause more problems than resolving the cosmetic issue of removing them from view. 🙂

        @ ch100

Seems, this bug has affected only Win 10 Anniversary Update/Version 1607, ie a defaultuser0 account is created during an upgrade or clean install.
In previous Versions, it was only auto-created during a failed upgrade or clean install.
