    Can anyone tell me how to determine if the Vista Defrag program has ended ??

      When it ends there should be a status window that pops up stating the disk has been defragmented.

      Have a look for something like DFRGNTFS.EXE in the Task Manager Processes tab. When it’s no longer there, your defrag has completed.

      Running Vista i found Win Defrag program ran very slow so I started using Defraggler then happened across what seems a really good one Auslogics Free Disk Defrag program. And that tells you when its stopped ok

      I also use Auslogics disk defragmenterIt works quickly and appears very efficient. Auslogics also has a registry defragmenter that is worth a try.
