Delete command in status bar (Word XP)

When I highlight a group of words and hit the delete key, I get “Delete block Yes/No?” in the status bar. I’m going nuts! How do I turn that off and get it to just delete the block? I’m sure it’s something simple, but I can’t figure it out.

I just flattened my machine and reinstalled Office, which is when this happened.

Select Tools | Options…
Activate the General tab.
Clear the two check boxes related to WordPerfect: “Help for WordPerfect users” and “Navigation keys for WordPerfect users”.
Click OK.
