Deleted messages stay in in box

I just upgraded to Outlook 07 SP2.

After I delete messages they remain in my inbox with the subject struck through. I want them to disappear from my inbox after I delete them.

This is standard for IMAP accounts. You need to use Purge (Edit menu?) to clear them from the server and Outlook.

Thanks. Is there any way to hide them or transfer them to another box so they won’t be a distraction but still be able to hold them for some period?
