I have just noticed that the design templates with animated backgrounds (e.g. Pulse, Ribbons) do not work in Pp2000 as they do in Pp97. The animated coloured bar that creates the effect is grouped as part of the whole background when you look at it in the slide or title master. Short of going through each template and ungrouping and applying the necessary custom animation, is there anyway to overcome this? Or if I stay with Pp2000 am I reduced to using templates with reduced effects?

    Thanks in advance.

I have been teaching PowerPoint for several years. Basic advice I always give is to decide if any given element in a presetation supports the premise of the presentation. If it doesn’t, why is it being used/

In my mind these animations come under the heading of “Cute”. Cute seldom supports a presentation. It usually takes away from it. If you’re talking about a given subject near and dear to your heart and your audience is wondering why they see a ribbon move across the screen on EVERY slide, you have to ask yourself if it’s needed.

Just my 2 cents. There’s a 1000 ways to make interesting background in 10 minutes. Have at it!
