We have a user that upgraded to IE8. Her PC is somehow thinking that the version of IE8 she has installed is for a mobile phone. We’re baffled on what to do in order to fix this issue. Even in compatibility view, the PC is still under the impression it’s a ‘mobile phone’.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

PC specs: Dell 745 with WinXP SP2

    Thanks.

First try clearing all of your IE temporary files, cookies, & history. If that does not work then, try downloading IE8 again, uninstall and reinstall IE8.

Tried just that. More than once. Even tried installing Firefox. Both browsers are under the impression that the PC is a mobile device. I know it’s a registry settings or User agent issue but I don’t know which one to change and was hoping someone else had some ideas. Thank you though!

My user agent string is “Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Win32)” without the quotation marks.
