I have run into a rather strange situation several times recently. My system is an HP Pavilion running Windows 7 Home Premium, 1TB Seagate HDD and 4GB RAM. When I restart, or after a shutdown, the desktop (including the taskbar) is completely unresponsive, i.e., none of the desktop icons will work. This is something of a mystery to me and is VERY aggravating. So far the only way I have been able to resolve this situation is to boot into “Safe mode with networking” and do a System Restore. I do not like this approach but it does work. BTW, everything works just fine in safe mode including my ability to connect to my remote computer using LogMeIn. If anyone has any ideas of what might be causing this behavior, how to work around it or, better yet, how to prevent it, I would be most interested in hearing from you.
