What do I need to do to return the Highest number in a set (in a column)?

    Thanks,

try the worksheet function “MAX”, but beware, it will only look to 30 numbers!

That is not correct. MAX is limited to 30 arguments, however each of those arguments can be an array of numbers. =MAX(A1:A1000) will return the maximum value in those 1000 cells. It is also possible to nest the function if you still hit the 30 parameter limit like this: =MAX(MAX(A1:A1000),MAX(C1:C1000)).

        Legare,

As always, thanks for your help…did exactly what I wanted.

Legare-thanks for the correction. I found out just a few minutes ago.

You can also set the Autocalculate Box on the Status Bar to show the maximum value in a selection. Right click on the Status Bar and choose Max.
