Is there a way to disable the clock accessing the server? My companies server’s time is never correct. Seems to loose about 15 seconds per day. Everyday after I log in, I have to correct the time. Most of the time I don’t but when I leave my watch at home, I’ll correct the time. The computers clock seems to keep pretty accurate time.

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody LoungerJune 21, 2005 at 5:04 pm #955035Which operating system? XP attempts to synchronise with a “Time Server” on the internet every week.
If you’re on a corporate network, perhaps your Logon Script is executing something like NET TIME /DOMAIN /SET /YES or a similar thing programmatically.
Isn’t the simplest solution to get the server’s time sorted out? Tackle the problem at source, and all that….

AskWoody LoungerJune 21, 2005 at 6:10 pm #955048You’d have to find out HOW your workstation’s time is updated, then, and attempt to prevent it. Or update it with the CORRECT time yourself.
But surely company politics doesn’t extend to insisting that you have the wrong time? Sheer professional pride would, I hope, encourage your techies to get the time right, since it is useful/necessary for problem investigation.

AskWoody LoungerJune 22, 2005 at 5:40 pm #955337If you’re really set on stopping time
it can be done through Services.
Services are found by doing one of the following:
– Start Menu / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services
– Start Menu / Run… / type services.msc / press ENTER.
– Right-click My Computer / Manage / Services and Applications / ServicesFind the entry for Windows Time & disable it.
But I would try to resolve the problem at it’s source as John said, rather than doing this patchwork fix on my own system.
