• Disc Partitioning app for Vista?

I have Acronis Disk Director 10, an old copy of Partition Expert 2003, and Partition Magic 8. But PM 8 apparently isn’t compatible with Vista. When I ran the “Vista Upgrade Advisor” it was flagged as being problematic. I do not know about DDS 10 however, whether it is compatible with Vista or not. And I seriously doubt if PE 2003 would work. I need to merge a couple of partitions on my backup HDD and Vista’s “Disc Management” doesn’t have that feature. Does anyone know of one that is compatible?

I always boot PM8 from a floppy disk, and I would use that to merge partitions on the backup hard disk.

I’m not aware of the disk partition structure being any different in Vista than it’s been for the last four or five operating systems (but will no doubt be told different if it’s changed!).

NONE of the pre Vista disk partitioning programs worked in the Beta versions. I know that DD 10 was trying to get it to work, but I have not seen a new version.

There is nothing at http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/diskdirector/%5B/url%5D about Vista.

If you are “Dual Booting” you can make these changes in XP!

        Dave,

Yeh, I checked the Acronis DD forum threads for anything related to Vista compatibility and found nothing either. As for the dual-boot suggestion that would be perfect IF I wasn’t so pleased with Vista that I chose not to reinstall XP….. yet. hehe I’ve got my True Image backup images which I could use but just to be able to use a partitioning app? nope

I hope that Acronis will get their next version released soon, as I have a lot of users are needing it NOW.
