Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

Try running from Run in start menu, enter “cleanmgr” no quotes. The utility is located in:
C:\Windows\System32\cleanmgr.exe
It can be run from there by double clicking. Or an admin Command Prompt or admin PS window.
These are just to check if it works at all. Sometimes, the utility window doesn’t close even though cleaning has been done. A click on the title bar will close it if it’s done. Sometimes the window will open behind another window, look on the taskbar to see if the utility’s open.
Actually, the Settings (gear thing) System>Storage Spaces buttons do the same thing. So many ways to access cleanmgr!
Is there any fix for this or recommendations
On my Windows 10 installs, Disk Cleanup when started does NOT show the window containing the “progress bar” until much later than it would show on earlier versions, which was nearly immediately.
I’ve never timed its delay, but an educated guess would be as much as 2-3 minutes if I’ve also clicked “Clean up system files”.
As a reminder, Windows 10 also contains a “Storage Sense” feature that is accessed from “Settings”.
It can be access this way: Open Settings → System → Storage → Temporary files. This also contains a “Disk Cleanup” function. (I suggest you Google it, since it appears to be faster and provide more options than does the “older” method of running Disk Cleanup..)
