• Does Chromebook value security and privacy

I was telling a friend that I am slowly getting used to the Chromebook.   He said he was shocked because he knows I value security and privacy.

He thought the whole purpose of the Chrome OS, let along the Chrome browser, is to allow Google to see EVERYTHING, and even every keystroke.  After all, we know they harvest so much detailed data about us, which  makes sense because they are an advertising company.  They would not be profitable otherwise.

Is he correct?  Is he over-reacting?

    Thanks for any comments.
