• Does Excel create error logs?

    From time to time Excel will crash, and you get the Auto Recovery dialog window to open Auto Saved files. But I’ve never seen a reference to an error log file which would tell you what happend to crash the program-what was Excel doing or trying to do that caused the issue. That would be good to know. Does one exist? Thanks.

      When Excel crashes, a dump file is generated.
      Performing a postmortem after an Excel crash requires surgical skills.

      As a starting point you might try:
      Start > All Programs > Microsoft Office > Microsoft Office Tools > Microsoft Office Diagnostics

      If you have a repeatable sequence of events that lead to a crash, you might get some help from this Lounge.
