I have two hard drives in my system. One which now is used for image backups.
Both are identical in size and brand.

My current OS is XP 32 bit.

I would like to Install Windows 7, 64 bit, on my second hard drive and make my system a dual boot.

Then, move everything over to the Windows 7 drive gradually and making sure everything works as it should.

This way in case I have any problems I can still boot to my XP drive until I correct the prolem on my Windows 7 drive.

Can anyone advise me on the best way to make a dual boot system to accomplish what I stated above.

    Thanks guys.

If everything goes right, it should be very easy. Start the install disc while in XP and go custom and follow through with where to install the OS. Since Windows 7 is the latest iteration of Windows it will be aware of the XP install and automatically add it to the boot menu.

Thanks, I seem to remember reading what you said but wasn’t sure.

I’ll give it a try once I figure out which version of 7 to buy.

You will have to create a partition on one of the HDDs to install WIN7 onto. It can be on the HDD that XP is installed on, or on the “image backups” HDD.
