I have created an organizational chart in Visio from data in an Excel spreadsheet. I have one problem and one annoyance.

The problem is with updating the org chart when changes are made in the spreadsheet. At present I create a new org chart on a new page by doing the import again every time the data changes and delete the original chart.

The annoyance is that I have items 3 through 10 reporting to item 2. The line goes 10, 3, 4, 5

      Hi Granville,
I am not a guru with Visio, but if I can ask…are you using the custom properties of the boxes and ODBC macros to attempt to update data between Visio and Excel?

Also, have a look and see if you can get any extra info from this article: Automating Diagrams with Visio

        Hi Rudi

That is a very interesting site, unfortunately not what I am after right now but should prove of interest later.

ODBC macros? Sorry if I am being a little dense but I don’t know about ODBC marcos. I think I better go and do some more reading wink

Thanks for the input. I’ve now go another tact to try.
