    Is there an easy or Simple IM program? I just want to send notes to my wife on her computer, on the same router, both of us using Win-7

      Email would work fine with or without an attachment.

      Neither of these are really simple but you may have them on your PCs already.

      If you have Skype installed you have a messenger app already.

      You could also use OneNote. Save the notebook to OneDrive and share it.
