Wow, as an unpaid beta tester, a sad story, I have discovered that the Edge browser, MickeySoft’s own baby has made this site a security risk! “There is a problem connecting securely to this website
The security certificate presented by this website is not secure.
Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the server.
We recommend that you close this webpage and do not continue to this website.”
However Firefox seems not to know it. I hate this forced update crap!

HA! Edge has met the enemy, and he is us!

There’s quite a few masochists in this world

I think the security implementation of this site is a bit too advanced for Edge. You don’t have to trust me, just test it here. This is the world-wide gold standard test for the security of the web sites.

Just use IE11, it is a good browser, seriously.
      Or Firefox.

      God knows that’s right, fp!

Here am I, attempting to fight the good fight by trying to keep my Win 7 box updated yet as unspied-upon as possible, and yet:

I’ve got a couple aged laptops that have the AU on them, thus making me a guinea pig (which, to me, is lower on the totem pole than an unpaid beta tester).

Yup, it must be masochism: after reading Ed Bott’s column I thought since I was never a beta tester and have no problems with my clean install of Windows 10, updated to “Anniversary Edition”(didn’t see your wise recommendation until after I had done it), I could go ahead and let the latest update roll this week. It slowly churned through ‘downloading update’ for about half an hour and then stopped at 49%. No hard drive activity, nothing. I finally bailed and am back on my beloved Linux where updates are done in less than a minute. Doh! Will now pay attention to the Defcon numbers. I appreciate your site.

To it’s credit: I gave it another half hour–over an hour total and Windows 10 AU finally completed it’s update (KB3194798)and everything seems to be functional. Looks like I am, as you put it, an unpaid beta tester.

My one and only AU Win 10 Pro PC (my Intel NUC) is working fine except for a few settings changes and related issues. Most of the other issues, even Bluetooth, are pretty much ironed out in there now.

But I am holding off on my ASUS Transformer Book tablet due to its history of not taking upgrades well, and my Toshiba Satellite laptop, which is nearing its end of life. No sense upsetting the apple cart with either of those PCs.

So I’m messing with Linux kernel updates now. (This is in the NUC and the Toshiba Satellite. Both are dual-boots, but only the NUC is UEFI Fast Boot with Secure Boot.)

These updates make Windows upgrades look like a cakewalk. Especially for the Toshiba which has hybrid NVIdia and Intel graphics. Twice the drivers and twice the fun of everything breaking!

BTW, Firefox for Linux (NPAPI) Adobe Flash Player now offers new current versions (but with no sandboxing or new features like hardware acceleration). This is the first time in over four years that Adobe and Canonical (Ubuntu) have tried to play nice.

As of this afternoon (10/17) Edge is no longer blocking “askwoody”. Thought you would want to know.
