    I renewed my domain with Hover yesterday and wondered why I was paying for 2 mail boxes. Customer service was prompt but during my inquiry I learned that they no longer offer a catch-all function ( spam problems may be, many do not offer that function any more) and I was semide facto grandfathered in. I was not willing to risk loosing that function to save $10/year as it would remove a hundred or so addresses that are still relevant and told the CS guy to just leave it alone. My ISP (CablevisionOptimumonline) upgraded me to their faster service which included free web hosting last year and I went to their site to investigate only to find a banner declaring they, as of this year, would no longer offer web hosting and offered easy transfer and a discount at Hostway.com.. for $7/month. ( I must see if I will be charged less for my account now 😎 yeah sure. They just managed to tack on $6 more on this month’s bill so I am doubly p/od)

    So my question, although I seem to be OK for now ( I renewed for 3 years) but what would be a good alternative if Hover decides to do a ‘cleanup’? I am in USA. :cheers:

      Not what you want, but I create individual addresses and use catch-all to swallow the spam – no point advertising mail availability. Plus any mail to the catch-all is potentially spam and can be used by the ISP to train their filters.

      cheers, Paul

      My problem is the possibility that I will lose catch-all. Individual addresses work well, if you have a spam problem you can use a filter. Keeping my fingers crossed ….

      My domain is hosted with Dotster. I am very pleased with the quality of service, and with their tech support.

      They offer four “catch-all” options:
      * Bounce
      * Save to temporary mailbox
      * Forward to external email address
      * Send to trash

      Sounds like you would want to save the “catch-all” email to a temporary mailbox.

      As far as additional email addresses, I can set up a whole bunch of actual email addresses (I don’t know the limit), and a whole bunch more forwarding-only email addresses. All of this is included with my service. And each actual address has 2 GB of storage.

      They also do website hosting, but I don’t have a website at present.
