Hello,
I need some help with email forwarding. I have currently posted an ad on the web for a client of mine. I have been getting email responses to the ad that I posted for my client. I want to continue getting the emails so that I can screen them before my client sees them. If I okay an email then I forward it to my client. My problem is when the client replies back to the forwarded email, the email gets sent to me and then I have to send it to the original person.

I hope you understand this, if not I have phrased it in the form of algebra. See below:

For the info below (Person B) is me.
(Person A) sends an email to (Person B).
(Person B) forwards the email from (Person A) to (Person C).
(Person C) then replies to (Person A)’s forwarded email resulting in
that email getting sent to (Person B) (I want this to be (Person A)).

Replies

You need to re-send the email as the original sender or add a “reply to” value. Neither of these things is easy with standard email clients – if at all possible.
I’m thinking you could use something like BLAT to forward the email because it will allow you to set the sender to anything you like.

What email client are you using to screen the mail?

I am currently using AtMail, but I can change it to SquirrelMail.

I also found out the following:

SquirrelMail is a standards-based WebMail package, written in PHP4 for maximum compatibility across browsers. SquirrelMail has all the functionality you would want from an email client, including strong MIME support, address books, and folder manipulation.

I am the owner / administrator of this account and have full access to it.
Hope this helps, because I don’t really understand it all, but I would like to someday.

Can’t see an easy way to persuade Atmail to do what you want – can’t see an easy way at all.

To make the email look like it came from the original sender you need to save the body of the email, probably as text, then send it on using Blat or similar and set the sender to the original sender instead of you. This is a slow and time consuming process and requires you know your SMTP server and are handy typing commands at a DOS prompt.

Sample Blat command line:
blat messagefilename -s OriginalSubject -t yourclient@theirmail.com -f originalsender@originaldomain.com -server yoursmtpserver.com

Note: this wont work if your SMTP server requires you to authenticate.

I didn’t think this would be so hard to accomplish.
I mean I am the admin for the account, so I thought
I would have access to all the features and options I could ever imagine. I guess not….
