I have two Acer laptops running 1903 with the last cumulative update from March. Before that update, all my email checkers worked. Now most won’t work except Thunderbird. They all still work on a Win 7 PC. These are 3rd party programs to check if mail is on the servers of four accounts. The failure is an old Verizon account that now resides on AOL. One failure says SSL failed while the others claim the OK response is missing after login. The other three accounts work. One program that worked before the update, Magic Mail Monitor, now does not respond and has to be shut down with the Task Manager. Is there a known cure for this problem, other than rolling back to February update, or do I just live with it until MS figures out what they did wrong? The unsigned app problem is a likely reason. I’d also like to find a more up to date mail checker that will run on all PCs, W7 and W10.

It would really help to know what “email checkers” you are referring to (assuming you mean other third-party email programs like Thunderbird).
Have you updated the third-party email programs to their latest versions, assuring they run correctly on the latest version Win10?
Have you checked the server settings and passwords on the third-party email programs?

AskWoody PlusMay 2, 2020 at 10:35 am #2258403Verizon e-mail has been notoriously bad ever since Verizon fobbed off its e-mail service onto AOL. My wife and I will each be unable to retrieve e-mail for hours at a time (separate PCs, different versions of Outlook). What error codes, if any, are you getting? For example, in her Outlook 2016, she was getting error 0x800ccc0f a couple of days ago. Knowing your code number may help to pinpoint the problem.
Do you have other, non-Verizon e-mail accounts, and are they working OK with your software?
For alternative mail checkers, you can try looking here.

GuestMay 2, 2020 at 10:51 am #2258411I have five programs, Magic Mail Monitor( fails completely ), Popcorn( SSL failure ), Mail Checker( OK response missing ), nPOPuk, and PopMan( Err 1401). All programs are the latest but not recent. All worked before the March update. I’m willing to abandon all five as they may never be updated again to W10 compatibility. There is likely one reason for all the failures.

GuestMay 2, 2020 at 11:43 am #2258424The program I would really like to see run in 1903 is the old MetaProducts MailChecker. It worked erratically on one Acer laptop until the recent update(SSL Failure on AOL) and never worked on an identical Acer.
I want to see email on four servers on one page showing, account, sender, subject, with option to see header and first few lines in text mode only, and ability to delete from server.

AskWoody LoungerMay 4, 2020 at 10:09 am #2258951None of those explanations fit my problem. All of the failures occurred after the 1903 March update. I’ll be doing the April update this week after the backup image. If they still fail then I’ll go with MailWasher and abandon the others. The MW trial is running fine on one laptop with all four email accounts.
Thanks for the help.

AskWoody PlusJune 8, 2020 at 4:09 am #2270316Similar symptoms here. I had used Magic Mail Monitor for years until it stopped working last month.
It fails on three Windows 1909 machines and an XP laptop! I tried several alternatives, some of which also wouldn’t work or didn’t suit my needs.
I settled on POP Peeper with Plus Pack.
The fact that the XP machine wouldn’t run MMM strikes me as very strange and I don’t suspect the router nor ISP (Comcast).

AskWoody LoungerJune 9, 2020 at 8:00 am #2270777I have used MailWasherPro for over 15 years now. Excellent product. When on vacation in New Zealand a few years ago…I met Nick and chatted for a couple of hours. Excellent guy!
BTW, Mailwasher Pro has excellent support also.-
