I have a machine running Windows 7. On it I have installed Mozilla Thunderbird and Office Professional 2010. When I run my Access database it comes up with the above error when trying to send an e-mail programmatically. I have set the default e-mail program in Windows to be Thunderbird (although when I go back into ‘Set program access and computer defaults’ the ‘Use my current e-mail program’ option is selected). Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be the problem?

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody_MVPNovember 26, 2012 at 10:27 am #1359129What you are seeing is a common problem based on a quick search. Without seeing the code you are executing, it is difficult to make any specific recommendations, but the general trend seems to be configuration issues in trying to create the mail object in the email application. It seems each email program has it’s own foibles – since Outlook is well documented, and you presumably have it installed, you might try switching to Outlook long enough to get the database to work properly. You might also check to make sure you have the latest version of Thunderbird installed. Depending on the format of what you are trying to send, the command-line email programs (as Paul T suggested) may or may not work for you.
