I am running Windows XP SP3 on two networked PCs. On one of them when I access the web page (using IE 8) of a local newspaper I get the following error message. “Message from webpage TypeError: ‘navigator.userAgent.match(…).1’ is null or not an object” Certain aspects of the web page no longer work. On the other PC no problem. What does this mean and how can I get rid of it?

I would try a couple of things. Clear all TIF, Cookies, etc. I would also flush the DNS Cache. You might also try to disable all Add ons and see if the browser works as expected. This article talks about IE 7 but the steps are the same for IE 8.
