Error on Deleting records

Access 2000 on Win98

I’m new to Access and have created a table that I have populated from Excel with 22,000 records.

I need to delete them all, before reimporting from Excel

I selected “Edit | Select all records”
and then “Delete”

I get an error message saying “Could not update; currently locked.”

There is nobody else using this file and I do not have any other tables or queries open…

Help!!!! What could I be doing wrong and how do I fix it?

You could just delete the table completely and do the import again.

Just as an afterthought…You might consider a Delete Query also.
