Suddenly Photodraw has stopped working. Windows 2000 Pro tells me Photodraw has generated errors and an error list is being created. I uninstalled PD, and reinstalled it on another drive. Still the same problem. I looked in the Microsoft Knowledgebase but didn’t see anything that looked helpful. Any idea what has happened?

does it mention a file name in the error message – something like “photodraw.exe has craused a page falut in some.dll…”

        Mary,

I responded via email but thought I use this medium also. No, there is no mention of a file other than PhotoDraw.exe. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both PhotoDraw and Windows 2000, but with no luck. This really has me puzzled. It runs fine on my laptop with the same configuration, but refuses to run on my desktop.

      Mary:
I’m having the same problem. The error messagae says: “PHOTODRW.EXE has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will have to restart the program.” I checked security settings and all users have all rights enabled. Following is a copy of the error log. Any info. would be GREATLY appreciated. Likewise, a search of MS KB turned up nadda.
      Thanks
      Karl

      Addendum:
This version of Photodraw (came with Off 2000 Premium) was working properly on an older system. This is a new install on a new system with WIN2000 sp2, Off 2000 SR1a with all updates (except Outlook security patches), dual-boot (WIN98SE) to support some older devices, plenty of disk and memory, 1.3 GHz, latest bios. Hardware additions are a networked Xerox Phaser 860 and Visioneer 8700 scanner. Photodraw install, uninstall, reinstall all seem to complete fine, but generates the error immediately on execution. This has never worked on this system, but I will try installing it on the older 800Mhz system under WIN98SE as the only O.S. Will let you know what happens.

      Regards,

      Karl

        Karl,

I’ve given up trying to get PhotoDraw to work on my desktop; however it
works great on my laptop, both running Windows 2000 Pro. It
seems as though my problem with PD developed when I loaded Diablo, which is not
installed on my laptop. This doesn’t make sense to me, but it seems to be
        what happened.
Like you, I’ve never found a decent answer. It’s been awhile but I recall
finding a reference to the error at Microsoft, but it didn’t work.

        Good Luck…

        Mike

I am having the same problem. Can you tell me how you managed to gain access to the error log? Which error log is it and does it require a special software tool to view it. I noticed my problem after I installed Works Suite 2002. I uninstalled it and then uninstalled Photodraw. After re-isnatllation the same problem occurred. I am at a complete loss.

          Hi BillyLow,
I realise that you posted this error a very long time ago & may well have a fix for your PhotoDraw error by now, but as I have just had the same error, I thought that I would send you the fix that I have found in case it helps you.

Wow, it really does work! Mine crashed and burned just not too long ago! I have been missing quite a few features that I use within this program and have tried reinstall, uninstall, etc., etc., that others had and nothing fixed it. Your discovery works! I even had tried using the Win95 compatibility and the Win2000 compatibility but I hadn’t tried Win98! nope Wonder why that one works and the other two didn’t? scratch None-the-less, I really appreciate your sharing of this information because I am now up and running once again!!! Boy, do I appreciate you help!! THANK YOU! clapping and welcome to the lounge! bananas grin
