• Eudora 7.1.0.9 doesn’t decode some Amazon messages

Eudora 7.1.0.9 no longer properly decodes Amazon messages confirming a purchase. Is there an add-on that I need?

    Thanks for your help.

Have you attempted to read the email via a webmail interface?

(I frequently get emails displayed as html code with WindowsMail – but they look ok with webmail.)

That flavor of Hermes https://sourceforge.net/projects/hermesmail/ won’t do anything except resolve SSL connection issues.  The not-yet-public Alpha of Hermes Aurora displays heavily html formatted emails better but not 100% yet.  You can “send to browser” in Eudora – that usually works.  That’s different than choosing “Use Microsoft’s Viewer” in Options – they are separate critters.

I went to that site a few weeks ago to upgrade Eudora to TLS 1.02. It worked nicely.

You could try moving to Hermes – a fork of Eudora.

Thanks for the suggestion. It only happens with Amazon messages so I will stick with Eudora since it does everything else.

The problem may be related to my PC not executing the script in the Amazon message.
Also, there may be some code translation that is not working.

You do not want scripts in mail executing on your PC. That is malwareland!

      cheers, Paul

Apparently, there are some scripts that Eudora routinely processes. I have only gotten this type of error from Amazon shopping messages. However, I have gotten them for years. See attachment.

They only occur in order confirmation messages.

That is Javascript and should only be used in browsers. I wouldn’t want my mail client running Javascript.

      cheers, Paul
