Are there any rules that determine whether or not an Access select query is visible to the Select Data Source function in Excel XP? I have created a query that Excel cannot see. It is a simple select query based, ultimately, on a mixture of data from an Access table and two SQL server tables. It is three steps away from the original tables as I have used intermediate queries to combine and filter the data.

One of the intermediate queries is visible in Excel

Just a wild guess: does the “invisible” query have unusual characters in its name?

That’s a good guess, but it didn’t help. I’ve shortened the name of the query and removed all underscores (it’s now called CompareOrders) but it is still invisible.

If only one of the intermediate queries is visible from Excel, then focus on the differences between that query and the next level.
