I have files that include many links. When I am changing the source of the links and copying a range of linked cells, Excel shuts down. I have tried changing the source of the links with and without all related files opened.

All Windows (XP) service packs are up to date as well as the MS Office updates.

This phenomenon first started roughly three weeks ago (approximately the same time as the last round of Windows updates).

Has anyone out there had similar issues?

This may also mean your file contains a corruption of some sort.

Try saving the offending file(s) as webpage, closing and reopening the webfile and then save/as as normal workbook.

      Thanks Jan.

This solution was a bit involved as I had to perform the procedure for about 40 files. However, I am happy with the result.

Was this the only way that the corruption issue can be resolved?

I’m not exactly sure how the file got corrupted in the first place but suspect that, by copying back and forth to a memory stick and working on a different computer repeatedly may have resulted in the introduction of garbage into the files.

      Thank you for your help.
