• Excel – custom headers

The attached file was created with a custom top header and I can’t find why it won’t print or previw the same as it is created. In the box used to enter the text of the header I have an “&” between the 1 and the 2. It does not show up in the preview or the hard copy. Why? Thanks

      Paul,

Since the & is used to denote special fields in the header/footer you need to use a && to get a single & to print.

Thanks for the prompt response. Now I WIll add “special fields” to the list of many things I don’t know about Excel.

      Paul,

They’re not all that special it’s things like &[Date] for the current date and &[Page] for the current page number, etc.
When you go int the custom header and select the icons for Date, Page, Time, etc you’ll see these codes appear.
