excel dates to access dates

when i convert an excel database to access the dates change to an access format. Is there a way to retain my mm/dd/yyyy format or convert it from the access format back to mine?

In Access highlight the table and click on Design on the right. Move the cursor to the field you want to change. In the Format property in the list of Field Properties underneath type your custom format.

Both Excel and Access store dates the same way, a numeric value that is the number of days since 12/31/1899 (a value of 1 is 1/1/1900). What you need to do is open the Access table containing the date in design mode, select the field containing the date, and then change the fields display format to be whatever you want it to be.
