Excel Print Problem

I am trying to spruce up an invoice I created in Excel. (2002)
I have put a colored text box over information at the top of the sheet. The text box transparency is set to 70%. On the computer screen I can see the information behind the box, but when it is printed, the text box covers the information and none of the information behind the box is printed.
I have tried, “no fill”, “100% transparent”, I have sent the box to the “back”, I have also tried all of this with an auto shape box.

What am I missing here?

Marv,

Select the Textbox.
Right-Click the Border.
Select Move to Back.
Should work.

The other option is to color the cell backgrounds. :cheers:

I know I can colour the cell backgrounds, but then the colour cannot be shaded dark to light

This may be a problem with the printer driver or just a feature it doesn’t support. I tried a test, unfortunately using Excel 2010, and it worked just fine on an HP 2400 series Deskjet printer {a fairly OLD printer as printers go}. However, when I attempted to print to a PDF file using PrimoPDF {a different driver at work here} none of the cells showed through I just got a blue to white shaded block.

Test 2: I booted my laptop with Excel 2003 and tried again. This time I got the same results as you did, on the 2400 and my Brother Laser printer, so I guess what you need is a newer version of Excel to accomplish what you are trying to do. :cheers:

I believe you are correct, as I have tried that myself. I really do not want to buy more software, so will need to live with it.
Also I just may try to print on another printer. I’ll let you know.
