I have one exchange 2016 server (East coast USA), that I’m still trying to get back up.

      Known issues with this release

      • Due to reports that Exchange setup fails on servers running on several languages other than English, we have temporarily removed August SU from Microsoft / Windows update until we find the root cause of the problem. We recommend our customers running non-English servers to pause installation until we provide more information. If your server has been already impacted by failed setup, please do not try uninstalling anything. Re-enable Exchange Services by running the following from the \Exchange Server\V15\Bin folder. Reboot the server after this and services should start:

I’d like to throw it out there that since applying CU23 SU9 to our Exchange 2016 server, it has broken scan-to-email, using an AD account that uses the server as the SMTP server for authentication.

This is on an English version. No further investigating has been done, but we also noticed after a reboot from the patch and a separate reboot, the “Microsoft Exchange” services are mostly Disabled and not running. The few that are set to Automatic are not running as well.

We weren’t able to rollback the CU, so we’re resorting to a backup to [hopefully] restore services.

Guenni over on borncity has published an article with a workaround that may be of interest to those affected by the redmondites.
