I’m wanting to create an exclude dictionary but, according to the help file, I need to use the same file name as my chosen dictionary (English UK), with the exc file extension.

Problem is I can’t figure out what the file name should be for English UK.

When you have created an exception dictionary in Notepad, go for File, Save As. Notepad is perverse in insisting that the default file type is TXT, so change it to All Files. Now, assuming you are using Office XP, type the file name to save as Mssp3en.exc. In the Save In drop-down list at the top of the Notepad window, trawl your way down to C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedProof, and you should see a number of dictionary files pop up, including Mssp3en.lex, the main English dictionary.

Do a search for *.lex and see what dictionaries are installed. The US English is mssp3en.lex.
