Fatal Error on opening Publisher (Office Prof 2003)

Publisher loads and gives the splash screen can see from the attached photo. As soon as try to go to file or open a document get the fatal error. Uninstalled and reinstalled and no correction. This happened after 2 months of use. Booting machine no help

I am getting this error too when I try to ope a pub doc. Publisher 2002 sp2 opens fine, but as soon as I open a file — bam! I wish I could tell you why; maybe someone else will help us. I’ve been all over google. Looks to me like something a critical update has broken.

I have a work around, I had backed up my office settings through office tools. And did a restore of settings. This cured the problem. Interesting that uninstall and install and a repair could not correct it . But a restore of office settings cured it.
A backup of office settings should be mandatory.

I discovered this too. Last night I did a Detect and Repair, but this time with both boxes checked. That fixed it! I agree it’s rather puzzling why restoring to default settings would fix this, but I’m glad it does.

I tried the suggestions on the Publisher problem and still can’t get it to work. Any other ideas? Is it a user profile issue?
