I know that xla is an add-in, xls is a spreadsheet, and xlt is a template. What is an xll? And for that matter, are there other extensions for Excel and what are they / do they mean? Thanx

      XLW file

      Save your workspace (and time)

If you routinely need to work with the same set of Excel files, use a
saved workspace for quick access to them. When you open a saved workspace,
all the Excel files grouped in it are opened. To create your workspace,
open all the Excel files you want included in it. Then, select File/Save
Workspace. When the Save Workspace dialog box appears, enter a name in the
File Name text box and click Save. Excel creates an XLW file with the name
you specified. At this point you can close all your files. To open them
back up as a group, simply select File/Open and select the XLW file.

I have found one more. xlk. When you tell Excel to make a back up of your file, this is the extension that gets assigned.
