I have File History set to back up file changes onto a dedicated 3 TB drive. It has been working wonderfully, but a few months ago it stopped backing up some folders. I have no idea why.
    I have:
Stopped FH, and restarted it again later.
Reset which folders to be backed up.
    Removed all exclusions.
Altered the backup frequency from Daily to every 10 mins and back again.
All to no avail. Pretty darned frustrating.

Does the Windows Event Log have details of the backup and what did or didn’t work?

      cheers, Paul

All, sorry for the time to respond. It’s a long time since I was on the Lounge and Paul, I expected that the long ago practice of sending emails when replies have been made was still in force. I received no emails so assumed no replies.
event log: I have no idea. don’t know how to read it.

How do you know it isn’t backing up some folders?

access-mdb; How do I know no backups of particular folders? I looked in the target folder that FH is supposed to write to.

Have you looked at what’s listed when you click on File History in File Explorer? Go to the folder in question and click History on the home tab and see what’s listed there. I have a feeling that FH doesn’t doesn’t always put the backed up files in the target folders as we might expect but it still keeps a record of where they are. Perhpas you can shoot down this feeling of mine.

#PointFive, I too have that OneDrive error (it won’t back it up until it’s no longer in use). However, it appears the file is one used by Onedrive and it only fails occasionally (at least that appears to be the case with mine).

Joe, cross posting. Yep I did post on Eileen’s Lounge over 2 weeks ago, but no answers there, so being desperate, I tried here.

I have been experiencing the same problem.
I don’t know if I can help because I have a simpler arrangement with only one external drive dedicated to File History and one C: drive.

Every day I have at least two Event ID’s #104, with a rare INFO Event ID #105 = “a file was posted to File History”. But the huge number of un-posted files is concerning.

Also, although the following sample Event #104 refers to C:UsersPaulSkyDrive ,,, my folder has no SkyDrive folder;…but two OneDrive folders, one is a current date and has a GREEN checkmark and the other is dated July, no checkmark and is empty. [btw – can I just delete the July folder?]

The below referenced file which starts as .849C9543…. is not found in search, unless I use a file finder program called “Everything”.

Finally, I no longer use MS Cloud storage. The “acorn icon” in the lower right corner box says “OneDrive is up to date.

More info: I periodically make a file-by-file copy of Documents and an Image File using Macrium Reflect (Free), although I’ve never restored an image. My Dell PC is an Intel i7, 8GB, Nvidia, Win8 to Win8.1 64bit to Win10 (by MS update) and is now the latest AU 1607 build 14393.576 (on auto MS update).
