System Restore may help but may not roll back the settings. You can try it with no downside; it’s always reversable unless done in Safe Mode.

I bought a new laptop with XP Home installed, and used the wiz to move all my settings from my old XP Pro machine. I installed Photoshop and Office 2000 on the new machine before running the wiz.
Now, when I boot up Outlook I get two error messages, telling me that MPOAI9,DLL and OUTBAK.DLL are not valid files. (I even tried copying them manually into the new machine, but I still get the messages.)
I also get an error on booting word, telling me there’s a compile error in hidden module AutoExec.
Is there anything I can do to get rid of these? I’m assuming it’s too late to undo the transfer wiz. PLEASE don’t tell me I have to wipe the drive and start over…(groooann)

Okay, the Word problem is solved, but the Outlook problem remains. System Restore didn’t change anything. (Mods, maybe now this needs to migrate to the Outlook forum…?)

On booting Outlook, I get two error messages, telling me that apoai9.dll and outbak.dll are not valid Office add-ins. (I’ve located these in my old computer and tried manually copying them, but that didn’t help.) Anyone got any ideas what these are?

There’s a fairly daunting sequence of instructions relating to Windows 2000 removal and reinstallation of Outlook Express in Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 263837. XP should be fairly similar, but I can’t find an article directly relating to this.

These DLLs are not in the MS database. When you were checking the Word startup folder pursuant to your question in that forum, you should have also checked the startup folder for Office. You need to remove anything in that startup folder & see if it helps. If so, replace the add-ins one at a time & see what causes the error.

I’ve just located a this discussion regarding MPOAI9.DLL, which apparently is part of MapPoint. Maybe this will help.

With regard to OUTBAK.DLL, see MSKB Article 319900
