I have users who after switching to Project 2003 claim that files they have worked hard on disappear – cannot be opened in Project. These are not beginner users – they have used Project 98 and 2000 before now. The network people have assured them that there no problems with the network. The users are at a remote site and I am going out there the end of the month to do some Project training for another group.
Has anybody heard of this problem?
I would really like to find out before I go to the site if this is a known Project 2003 problem.

    Thanks for any help!!

You say the users are at a “Remote” site. How are they connecting to your network? Where do the MS Project files reside that they are trying to open?

If you just upgraded to Project 2003, you may have created new directories or drives to store the data. If so, make sure your remote users are mapped to the correct location.

I would try an experiment on the remote users machine in explore mode to see if they can even see the project 2003 files. If not, then you may have a network problem. If so, then try putting a project 2002 file out there and see if they can open it. If everyone else can use 2003 correctly, then this seems like a mapping issue on the network. In the interim, I will see if i can dig up anything else.

Any issues with connecting to any other files?

By remote I mean they are not on my campus and at this point I do not have access to their servers. To get access takes an act of congress because this is a large company and moves very slowly. I may have to wait until I get to their location at the end of the month. I will also try to break the system here and save files in various locations and try to retrieve them.
If you can find anything else, please let me know. I appreciate all help!!
