    Hi –

Downloaded Adblock Plus (1.1.3) and when I went to Tools/Add-Ons, I see it’s not compatible with Ff 3.5.7. So, I uninstall, or should say I TRY to uninstall. After Firefox is restarted, it still s shows in Extensions with legend “this add-on will be uninstalled when Firefox is restarted.”

    Questions:
    1) how to unstall it

    2) is it known when it will be compatible with Ff 3.5.7?

    thank you all.

I think you are mistaken. I have Adblock Plus 1.1.3 working with Firefox 3.5.7 and the Adblock Plus page here says “Works with Firefox: 3.0.12 – 3.7a1pre” which seems to include 3.5.7 in the range of versions it works with.

I’m running Adblock Plus 1.1.3 on Firefox 3.5.7 on three PC’s and have not seen nor noticed any compatibility issues. Did your download come directly from the Mozilla web site?

Thank you, and Ian. I had downloaded Adblock Plus from the Mozilla web site. Today, I downloaded it from Tools/Add-ons, “browse all” and it loaded fine. (It does say, when clicking on Extensions, “Ads were yesterday.” Don’t know what that means.)

Now– since I had royally messed up my Adblock settings, I want to have a clean start. I removed my “adblockplus” directory in my [Mozilla/Firefox]user profile. Then I went to about:config and reset [user] preferences starting with ‘extensions:adblockplus.”

I’ve restarted the PC & Firefox several times but still no “success” – – meaning no ads are shown. . Bottom line: how do I undo all my preferences?

        Thank you!

Close Firefox, go to your profile folder
      In that folder delete extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini and compatibility.ini
When you restart Firefox you can try re-installing Adblock Plus. If one of those 4 files is corrupt it can cause problems installing and uninstalling add-ons.

      Hi, agaian –

I think I discovered what was wrong: in Tools/Options/Content, the “Load Images Automatically” was unchecked….

But, it would be good to know how to undo Adblock choices…..

Not sure what you mean – perhaps Adblock has it’s own configuration/preferences settings (right click on the Adblock Plus Icon).
Use this – not Firefox configuration/options.

      Thank you, TerryB.

I had first tried to configure Adblock settings, to no avail. Then, when I allowed image to load, all was well. It seems that overrides other settings???

I must admit that I find working with Adblock a mystery…

There is a forum specifically geared to questions regarding performance of ABP which you might find helpful.

Thank you. I had looked at the site but not carefully enough. I really have to sit down and understand what the program is about.
          Appreciate your response!

If you go to Tools> Add-ons> Adblock Plus> Options> Filters> Add Filter Subscription> check EasyList USA if you are in the US and click Subscribe> Apply> Ok and you should be all set. Try that and see what happens.

If you aren’t in the USA then there are other options.
