Here is a minor warning about the cookie auto-delete addon for Firefox.
I was filling out a form at a site trying to get ahead of a deadline i had but I could not submit the form. i kept getting a “error please try again later” pop-up. I usually block cookies but allowed them for the site and No-script was turned off. Everything should have been fine but it didn’t work.
I tried again later, and later, and later, and nothing worked. I signed out again and tried to think if the issue was a browser problem (I got the standard “Your browser is not supported” bs but could sign in}.
My usual practice is to allow some cookies from sites that need them or add the sites to the cookie and site data exceptions. Cookie auto-delete is great for cleaning up these cookies as i change websites.
Lately i have been using as few add-ons as possible because they were causing problems in Firefox and crashing my system. i didn’t uninstall them. I just turned them off.
Add-ons aren’t supposed to effect your system when turned off but I wonder. I tried to submit the form again. All add-ons were off and cookies were allowed for the site. The form would not submit. I backed out to the main page and turned cookie auto-delete on and refreshed firefox. Cookie auto-delete showed that it recognized cookies. I went to the form i was trying to submit and hit the button again and everything worked. Job done.
I don’t know what the problem was but am glad it’s fixed. Instead of turning add-ons off it may be better to uninstall them until you need them,
