Have been a Firefox user for awhile and it just occurred to me that unlike in the old Internet Explorer, when I utilize Google for a search then click on a result to review, when I return to the Google listing, previously viewed results have not changed color to indicate that they were reviewed.

If I recall correctly, the original search results listing names were blue, reviewed ones were then a mauve or purple color within Internet Explorer.

Is there some preference in Firefox I need to select?  Or was that a Google thing that no longer exists?

I think this changed around FF57 or thereabouts.
Not faminliar with an about:config solution.
Some websites render their own fonts/ links, some don’t so it’s a bit of a hit or a miss.
      You could try Firefox:
settings> General> Fonts and Colors> Advanced> allow pages to choose their own fonts..and untick the box
Extension? on a quick search: ‘Custom Google Visited Link’ Color by iBoonie
in Firefox Add Ons (no affiliation etc..)

Windows - commercial by definition and now function...

In Firefox, go to Options > General.   Under “Language and Appearance” you should see “Fonts and Colors”.  Click on “Colors”, then on the right you should see options for “Link Colors”, with different colors for visited and unvisited links.  Click on a color, and you should see a palette of many different colors from which to choose.  Not sure if it applies to Google search results though.

As you specifically mention Firefox, there is an add-on which may help.  It changes the color of a visited site, so that in the Google list of search results, sites not yet visited will be blue, as always, but once a site has been visited, its color in the list will change to whatever you want it to be.  The add-on is called Custom Google Visited Link Color.  Once installed, open its Options page and choose your preferred color for visited sites.
