One more thing to learn about FF – saving new Bookmarks to their proper folder.

How do I save new Bookmarks (URLs) to their appropriate folder in the Bookmark list. I thought I had it figured out, but the Bookmark I was trying to save did not show up in the intended folder and I don’t know where it went.

It obviously does not work the way IE works, so how does it work? Any insight that anyone would care to provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

When you click the button (or [Ctrl+D], or the menu link), a box opens with drop-down lists of locations where you can save the bookmark.

If you want to organise bookmarks you already have, click Bookmarks, Show All Bookmarks (or press [Ctrl+Shift+B]). This opens the library where you can shift your bookmarks around at will.

Make sure Menu bar shows. (Simpler method is below this.)
Click Bookmark in the Menu bar.
Select ‘Bookmark This page’ from the roll-down.
QUICKLY, in the pop-up, click to select ‘folder’ (to which store the bookmark),
or click its folder down arrow. Then select the folder of choice.
If you’re slow, the pop-up goes away, and it’ll be stored in default location.
The default store place is the root of Bookmark.
That is, in Menu-Bookmark, the roll-down will display the newly booked-mark name
      as the last entry.

Yes, it is not senior friendly.
Too slow and Firefox will store to default (the root of Bookmark).

It may also be stored in the folder ‘Unsorted Bookmark’.
Unsorted Bookmark is usually the last item in the Bookmark root.

Incidentally, Bookmark, etc, is like ‘folder’. Treat it as a ‘folder’ name.
You can have ‘sub-folders’, aka folder trees, within the folder. In this case,
      sub-bookmark trees.

      The simple way:
Just click the Star icon (normally in top right area). Pop-up shows.
      Click the folder down arrow.
Select the folder of your choice.
      Click ‘Done’ button. Pop-up closes.

To remove a bookmark without hunting it down:
Go to the web site first.
      Click the Star icon
      Click ‘Remove’ button.

Even easier, I just open the Favorites Toolbar and be sure the target folder is visible.
Then I just drag the icon from the address bar to the target folder.

This works for the Bookmarks Toolbar as well. Firefox will even open subfolders if you pause the drag over them.

      No muss no fuss!

May I add, or a question (puzzlement) myself:
In Firefox, is Favorite Toolbar = Bookmarks Toolbar?

        Slightly different subject but related:
BTW, I turn off (not display) all toolbars (hence my question above).
I need as much space vertically. Most displays are wide enough but not tall enough.
        Now ANOTHER question:
Is there vertical screen display, rather than wide screen?
I’d like to read like a book (say, 8.5 inches by 11 inches equivalent).
Besides, web page is usually long too, not wide. Worse, some sites just have blank spaces left and right of there material page.

In Firefox, is Favorite Toolbar = Bookmarks Toolbar?

          To be (arrgghhhh) historically correct:

Microsoft came late to the Internet game. “Everybody else”, practically Netscape et al were calling these things bookmarks when finally Micro$oft played catch-up with Internet Explorer. (We all know how much grief IE caused for the uninitiated.)

Since M$ always tries to create the impression that they invented everything they were (are?) reluctant to use the established name “bookmark” and invented “favorite” in it’s place.

So it seems more correct to say that Bookmarks Toolbar uses the original wording and Favorites Toolbar is a late-to-the-party wanna-be upstart.

But either way, when my generation of computer people dies all this will be forever lost to mankind. How terrible ;-((

It is a bit confusing. If you select the Customize option (right clock the title bar) you will find an icon marked Bookmarks. Adding this to the main toolbar will display a vertical list of bookmarks (I call this the Favorites Toolbar). In addition, when you right click the title bar, you can check the item “Bookmarks Toolbar”. This will display a horizontal bar with the bookmarks assigned to the Bookmarks Toolbar as defined under the Bookmarks Option in the menu bar. This is displayed below the Main Toolbar.

It is best to play around with these options to get a better feel of how they work. In any of the bookmark toolbars, you can create folders (and subfolders) to organize your bookmarks any way you like.

      Have fun.
