Is the firewall that ships with the home version robust enough or is it best to use a third-party one?

it’s robust as far as it goes – inbound only. if something gets planted on your side, it won’t stop it like zone alarm will.

One of the first things I do is turn the XP firewall off and install ZoneAlarm. I ried all builds from Beta2 and on, and did not like it. It will just be one of those addins I will not use.

Thanks for the advice. I think I’ll stick with ZoneAlarm.

            Hi
I’d confirm what Dave says. I tried the in-built firewall and found that once I’d logged on and off, I could not get back on again. My DUC halted at Confirm User Name and Password. Turning it off and installing Zone Alarm makes it work. I think your decision is the correct one.
