    Hello,

I am running Win 7 Home Premium and following suggestions that running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware would be prudent ahead of the upcoming Win 7 EOS, I downloaded MB V3.8.3.2965. (as an aside, I thought it would give me the option for the free version, but this is a trial of the full version. Another question…)

I ran an initial scan – but find that I don’t really know enough about it to really take advantage of the results, so I thought I’d seek some advice and suggestions.

The scan took about 42 minutes, and yielded 14 threats. All were listed as PUP optional, and look like most are a coupon printing program that I do occasionally use. Two were registry keys and one a registry value. I “knew” better than to mess with those without some advice!

Not really knowing the impacts – I did not quarantine any of those. So, I guess my question is – what types of warnings should be quarantined? And what might the optimal settings be for the to run alongside my Norton AV?

I am going to continue to read up on this program, but thought that someone here might have some thoughts that would cut through the red tape so to speak.

Here’s the screenshot of the scan results:

    Malwarebytes-scan

    Thanks so much!

Go to Settings\Account and disable the Trial.

PUP is a POTENTIALLY Unwanted Program. If you are using a program, ignore the warnings about that program. That is a program probably downloaded that most people don’t want. I usually clean out everything it finds (but that’s just me).

Thanks! Didn’t know where to look!

OK that sounds right – thanks. But what about the registry ones – aren’t those possibly dangerous to quarantine?

If the items are concerned with the program you want to keep, leave them alone.

Otherwise, I let Mbam remove whatever it identifies PUP or anything else. I have never had it wreck anything.

OK – I’ll need to keep an eye on which programs those are associated with. Thanks!!
