Aloha all,
I have a large spreadsheet (28 cols x 55,000 rows) that, when I use AutoFilter, produces a msgbox saying “Fixed Items Will Move”. The msgbox appears 15 to 30 times, without any correlation to the data that I can determine. AutoFiltering on different values in the same column produces a different number of msgboxes. Sometimes no msgboxes appear. Any insight as to why this is happening?
Mahalo!

AskWoody LoungerSeptember 27, 2006 at 9:41 pm #1030635I’ve tried reducing the first file as well as reducing a second large file with the same problem, but I can’t reproduce the msgboxes in the reduced versions (yet).
An “Aha!”: In the first file I cleared all comments from the entire range, and now I have no msgboxes popping up. I guess I must have attached comments somewhere in the body of data as well.
And a mystery: The second large file has 44,000 rows, with 13 comments in random locations within the data. So far, every AutoFilter I’ve tried has produced 3 msgboxes. What’s up with that.
Well, even though the number of msgboxes is still a mystery, it’s clear to me that the comments are the culprit. I’ll just evaluate for myself the relative value of in-data comments vs. AutoFiltering uninterrupted by msgboxes. OK, did that — the comments go.
Mahalo Hans, for your efforts,
John Jacobson
